Mediation surprised everyone and convinced all parties to the dowry of the power agreement in southern Sudan
Khartoum, August, 5th, 2018 – The mediation succeeded in changing the intransigent positions of some of the southern factions, and was able to convince them to dowry the power-sharing agreement in southern Sudan, just moments before the formal signing ceremony.
The southern opposition alliance and the group of detainees signed the agreement after they refused to sign because of disagreement over the number and borders of the states, as well as the transitional committee.
President Omar Bashir, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, Kenyan President Ohoro Kenyatta, Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Qili, Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khairi and Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Demik Mikonen.
Witnesses to the agreement were representatives of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development in East Africa (IGAD), the African Union and the United Nations.
A large crowd of South Sudanese gathered in front of the Friendship Hall in Khartoum, where the signing ceremony took place, showing a state of rejoicing…
