Press Statement
The National Democratic Movement (NDM) would like to inform the public that on the Sunday 9th July, 2017 at 5:00 PM its gallant forces under the command of the A/CDR Yousif Peter engaged in a fierce battle with the enemy forces at New Site, Eastern Equatoria. Our forces inflicted heavy losses on the enemy killing a Lt. Colonel who was the commander of the base. In the battle the National Democratic Forces captured six (6) AK-47 rifles.
Since its announcement of ceasefire few weeks ago, President Kiir ethnocentric and dictatorial regime has escalated military campaign against the opposition forces across the country. The government is under serious illusions that it could resolve the current political impasse prevailing in the country by scoring military victories against the sprouting revolutionary forces in the country. Instead of addressing the acute humanitarian and economic situation in the country, Kiir and his ruling minority clique in Juba are busy spending the precious resources in the country in buying weapons to wage a destructive war against its people.
The people of South Sudan have decided to defend themselves against the inept and corrupt regime of Kiir by using all means necessary including popular revolutionary uprising. The long years of struggle for emancipation against various oppressive regimes that ruled the Sudan, is a tall testimony to the determination of South Sudanese to fight against forces of injustice and dictatorship. Our people will be victories and once again peace and democracy would reign supreme in beloved South Sudan.
Long live the struggle of our people Long live South Sudan
A luta continua
