July 25, 2018 (KHARTOUM) -“The parties in southern Sudan are signing an initial agreement of power-sharing agreement between the government and the opposition,” a Sudanese foreign ministry official said at the signing ceremony in Khartoum.
“The agreement provides for the formation of a new government and parliament,” the official said. “The signatories are the government in all its spectrum, the Riek Machar group and another opposition group.”
“Those who abstain from signing Atif from other opposition groups will continue dialogue and negotiate with them to join the agreement as soon as possible,” the official said, praising Sudan’s efforts to reach agreement within a short period of about a month.
